I am so fascinated with classical music and I had a brush with musical training when I was just a little girl learning to play the piano. Sometimes, I miss the wonderful world of music and I am happy and blessed that my daughter Bea plays the violin, so it gives me the chance to enjoy the classical pieces she is learning to play.
So, I was stoked when I heard that our very own musical dame who placed New Zealand in the annals of musical history, Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, will be in Auckland for one special special concert with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra and conductor Pietari Inkinen.
Many people would go the extra lengths to enjoy Dame Kiri’s beautiful voice abroad. And, this “The Gala Evening” is a wonderful opportunity for us to enjoy our Dame without paying a premium for plane tickets.
This evening of glittering spectacle and musical extravaganza is presented by the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra in association with the Kiri Te Kanawa Foundation. Dame Kiri will take us through a programme of great classics, popular favourites, and some of the treasures of New Zealand’s musical heritage.
The gala evening starts at 6.30pm on Saturday 22 October, 2011 at the Vector Arena, Mahuhu Crescent, Parnell, Auckland, and tickets are A Reserve $145, B Reserve $125, C Reserve $95, D Reserve $75 and are available through Ticketmaster. I know that the concert is still far off but I believe that is enough time for you and me to save up and enjoy this opportunity with our family.
