Shopping with a teen can be quite a challenge. Was it overnight that her taste and mine grew so far apart?
Getting past the mere challenge of even being seen shopping with your mother, the task often remains to find age appropriate yet stylish clothing. Thank heavens for Tren-D, a new shop located in Downtown Disney Marketplace (map).
This new Walt Disney World (map) unique boutique, Tren-D offers hip, urban merchandise in a wide range of prices. On the upper end are the designer styles including Tarina Tarantino, Roxy and Kidada Jones and featuring clothes, jewelry, shoes and other accessories to perfectly accent the trendy attire.
From adorable flip-flops to the latest Alice in Wonderland graphic tees to the extremely popular Dooney & Bourke Disney themed purses, mom and teen together were giddily grabbing items to show each other often in a united chorus of “Oh, look at this!” and “How cute!”
In a unique setting with crystal chandeliers, the racks and shelves of the salon are loaded and a maze of merchandise, making it slightly overwhelming, especially with a large crowd of equally happy shoppers. Thinking this was going to be more of a browsing experience, we rounded the corner and found a large section of merchandise more friendly to our budget.
Our fun had now turned to joy as several items not only fit our price range, but included styles that met the approval of both. We had found the perfect “souvenir” of our vacation for not only my teen, but myself as well.
Not a clothes horse? Tren-D also offers unique art and whimsical furnishings blending the current trend of vintage meets urban flair.
Downtown Disney offers the perfect Disney experience with plenty of dining and entertainment as well as shopping, without paying an entrance fee. Parking is also free and close to the stores making this a great destination, even if you aren’t heading near the parks.
Go ahead, young trend setter, embrace the challenge of shopping with your mother, Tren-D is worth it!

There is a debate that rages among Disney guests, is it better to stay on-site at a Disney Resort or to choose lodging off Disney property? Good arguments can be made for either option and to me it seems that it is a question of budget, the length of your stay, and type of experience you seek.
A...
