Weather Plays Bigger Part in Vacation Planning
One factor that can play a big part in planning a vacation is the weather. Whether it is the rainy season or the hottest time of the year, can influence when to visit your selected destination.
The weather Channel has introduced an online service that combines weather information for certain times of the year, called climate snapshots, helping you to select the warmest, driest and coldest times.
Along with average temperatures, guests can even determine average sunny days at their chosen...

Winter Wonderland Hits Washington DC Hard
Over the weekend, the Washington, DC area was spanked with a massive snowstorm that brought traffic and public transportation to a halt, shut businesses across the region and made staying home the preferred activity of the weekend.
At some times over the weekend, snow was falling faster than 2 inches every hour. The snowfall totals came in at 25 inches of snow at Regan National Airport, and 34½ inches fall at Dulles Airport.
The storm downed power lines disrupting electricity to a couple hundred...

One Month to Go and Where’s the Snow?
It’s the countdown to the 2010 Winter Olympic Games and because of the mild, wet weather on the BC Coast, already two venues have been closed. There’s hardly any snow left on Cypress and Grouse Mountains.
Although environment Canada meteorologist promises colder weather is coming, it’s balmy and damp and Olympic organizers are worried. VANOC has decided to shut Cypress Mountain Alpine run two weeks early as a precaution. The snowboard and free style ski slope venue is susceptible...

A Winter Wonderland in Orange County
... week, but this week we are back on track with temperatures in the mid 70s and sunny, cloudless skies!
Some good ways to get outside and enjoy the weather:
- It’s the perfect time of year to visit an amusement park, like Disneyland (map) or Knott’s Berry Farm (map). Check out the Disney section for tips and features at the park!
- Take your dogs to one of Orange County’s many dog parks to let them stretch their legs after being cooped up inside all weekend.
- Take a hike!

To Bring or Not To Bring… That Is the Question
Here is a short list on what to bring and not to bring for a trip to Buenos Aires. Obviously it all depends on the type of trip you are planning. Common sense comes always handy.
You can find pretty much everything in the local supermarkets and shops, and often of the same brands as home. Most clothes you will find here are high quality and sometimes cost a lot less than in the North America or Western Europe, although the quality might not be the same.
So, leave space in your bags, because at an...

December in Amsterdam, Weather and Events
Right from the beginning of December Amsterdam is in a festive mood. Sinterklaas, aka Santa Claus, has arrived back from Spain. Together with his Zwarte Piet, his black helpers, he visits shops, shopping malls and tours the city. Shopping street and canals are festooned with twinkling lights. December is a great month for shopping. The cultural calender includes special holiday performances.
Airfares and hotel rates prices are at their highest during the second part of the month.

Rain or Shine?
Dutch weather can be anything from the perfect sunny day to overcast skies. best time to visit is between April and September because days are longer and temperatures are milder. December is the rainest month and February the coldest. In winter temperatures hover around freezing. If it snows, it is only very light and never stays long on the ground.
My favourite weather website is buienradar is one of my favourite websites. (Buien is the Dutch word for rain showers.) It shows where in the Netherlands...

Sydney: The Friendly City
Sydney has been voted the world’s friendliest city in a global online survey. It was also voted the best city for its cleanliness, aesthetic qualities, climate, and affordable accommodation options.
In the overall rankings Sydney was narrowly beaten by Paris, but rated better than London, Rome, and New York.
News of Sydney’s global rating couldn’t come as a better time, as the city fights to lure travelers to our shores in the face of global financial crisis.

Warning: bad weather!
The second part of this week is going to be overshadowed by strong wind and heavy rains. Such a weather forecast is spreaded in the press here. Already tomorrow there reportedly will be cold winds (15-20 m/s) to lower the day temperature till 5-10 Celcium (it’s about 20 now, which is rather comfortable). All this will last till Sunday, experts say, and as I wrote earlier, St. Petersburg is not a city suited to walk comfortably in the cold weather. It’s nearness to extent water surface...

‘Winter’ in Rio – what to pack
... approaches. For visitors coming to the ‘cidade maravilhosa’ for the first time, it can be difficult to know exactly what to expect, weather-wise (in fact, scrap that – it’s difficult even for locals to know what to expect!). The shops may be full of full-length coats, knee length boots, scarves and gloves, but are they ever really necessary in this tropical climate? The answer is, not really. You might need one or other of the items at some point during your stay, but you’ll...

March Roared In Like a (Cold) Lion in the South
... and might bring some snow to North Carolina, Virginia and other places.
But don’t worry, because the area will be experiencing springtime weather by this weekend!
The South, gotta to love it, especially during wacky weather months of March and April.

Snow Day Here in Seattle
Much of the greater Seattle area enjoyed a snow today, with many businesses, governmental offices, and school closed.
Flying into Sea-Tac Airport mid-day wasn’t too bad. In fact, it took me nearly as long to drive home from the airport as it did to fly from San Francisco to Seattle!
No snow when I left home a few days ago. This is what was waiting when I arrived home this afternoon. There were lots of kids with sleds, and various boards sliding down the hill having a great school-free...

Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let it Snow: Snow in the Deep South
File this under “you just never know.”
From tornadoes to snow in about 24-36 hours. You’ve just gotta to love weather in the South.
Okay, so it might not stick, but snow of any size, including sleet is a big deal in the deep South. Remember the freak snow blizzard in March 1993 that hit the South and rendered the area helpless, because, well states, like Alabama where I was, didn’t have snow ploughs and couldn’t do anything.
As I sit in 60 degree weather in the...
