The story tells of Zhu Yingtai, a beautiful and intelligent woman, who is the only daughter in a wealthy family. She convinces her father to allow her to attend school, but since this is a tradition only permitted boys, she must disguise herself so that she might be allowed to study. She meets a handsome young man...

Have a ‘Budding Winter’ at Hong Kong Park
Since I was young I’ve always loved visiting Hong Kong Park (map). To this day, it still brings some wonderful memories of my childhood running around the playgrounds, chasing the birds and seeing numerous wedding photo shoots around the vicinity. Hong Kong Park is a great development in the city and I’m amazed at how well they’ve been able to maintain its state. From the cascading waterfalls to the manmade ponds, it really is a paradise in the middle of the busy metropolis.
Hong Kong Park...

Rock Star-Poet Kim Addonizio to Read in Seattle
If there’s a “rock star” of the poetry world it’s Kim Addonizio, an award winning poet and novelist, and — rock musician, with her own rock band.
Kim Addonizio: poet, author, rock star
With both a BA and MFA from San Francisco State University, she has the literary chops to hold her own among the best, while being unafraid of branching out and establishing her own course.
I was first made aware of Kim Addonizio with her first novel, Little Beauties, which has now been optioned for...

Crank up the Noise at Decibel Fest
Crank up those decibels for the 6th annual Decibel Festival, a non-profit, four-day annual music and arts festival. With an official title of Decibel International Festival of Electronic Music Performance, Visual Art and New Media, it can easily get lost in a sea of Seattle’s other music festivals. The Red Rattler Slithers Into Sydney
Sydney’s newest creative venue is The Red Rattler. This exciting space will showcase the city’s underground musicians, designers, filmmakers, and multimedia artists.
It’s the brainchild of five women frustrated with the high rents for performance spaces and police intervention for unsanctioned arts displays. With the Red Rattler, they’ve kept the bohemian spirit intact for the entire family. That’s right, supervised children are permitted at all shows, so free spirited adults don’t...

Opéra en Plein Air at Jardin du Luxembourg
One of my favorite things to do is find myself in places where I shouldn’t be….or at least find myself in places that I could be but are closed off to the rest of the world. If I am given the opportunity to experience someplace without all the hustle of crowds, I’m in. For instance, I have found myself in the Alhambra in Granada, Spain after hours. My family was able to walk throughout the General Life Gardens during out stay in a parador on site. The sun was setting behind...
