To avoid museum burn-out, it is always a good idea to temper periods of sightseeing with visits to parks and wide-open spaces. The Rose Kennedy Greenway encompasses four linear parks along Boston’s waterfront- North End Park , Wharf District Parks, Dewey Square Parks and Chinatown. The area was reclaimed in recent years as a result of Boston’s Central Artery project which tore down the elevated highway that once bisected the city. The Rose Kennedy Greenway is comprised of stunning...

Texas State Park Pass
Warning: strpos() [function.strpos]: Offset not contained in string. in /var/www/blog/wp-content/themes/ISOMagazine/functions.php on line 317
It seemed fitting to choose Texas Travel & Tourism Week (May 8-16) to let you know about the Texas State Parks Pass. More than 90 parks and historic sites honor the pass by waiving their entry fee for passholders, which translates into great savings if you are a frequent park visitor. Unlike other similar state park passes, the Texas pass also offers discounts on camping and merchandise.
In addition to saving money, passes provide convenience; no digging for change or a debit card –...

Costa da Caparica, Some of the Best Beaches in Lisbon
Warning: strpos() [function.strpos]: Offset not contained in string. in /var/www/blog/wp-content/themes/ISOMagazine/functions.php on line 317
Recently I moved to the other side of the river, to Costa da Caparica. Although just a short and beautiful boat ride from Lisbon, or some 15 minutes by car crossing 25 de Abril bridge, it feels like a sweet break from the rushing of the city.
But you may ask why I’m writing about it now… Costa da Caparica has the closest pristine, long shore beaches you may find in Lisbon. It’s the perfect place to go if you have one day off from Lisbon and just want to relax lying on a white sandy beach.
As...

Whether you are looking for something out-of-the-ordinary or simply experience the Spanish outdoors, skydiving in Madrid might just be the thing for you. It appears that the heat of summer has already descended upon us here in NYC. Although it may still be too cold for ocean swimming, we’re getting closer to those hazy days when its 85 degrees at 7 a.m. and the humidity makes it feel like you’re breathing through a sponge. Not exactly a day for hitting midtown’s concrete canyons.

Cappadocia is known for its mystical landscapes dotted with over thousands of conical rock formations, making it a perfect spot for slow and relaxing flying. The sprawling area is legendary, nothing quite like this exists elsewhere in the world. More than 65 million years...

Pack Your Hiking Boots: Walking the Dublin Coastline

The coastline of Dublin is full of craggy trails, wildflowers, and sea views. On a recent sunny day, I headed south of Dublin city center to explore a trail I’d heard about, connecting the villages of Bray and Greystones.
The best part about this walk is you won’t need a car for it. Hop on the DART (the train that connects central Dublin to places along the coast) and enjoy the scenic ride down to Bray. The tracks follow the coastline, so make sure you get a window seat to watch Dublin...

Cycling Around Vancouver

I have to admit I’m not as an a ardent cyclist as I used to be, but I still enjoy the occasional spin around the Sea-wall or along False Creek and Coal Harbour. There are lots of safe cycling paths in Vancouver, if you aren’t (like me) inclined to enjoy riding in traffic.
During the 2010 Olympics people were asked to consider taking their bikes, walking or using public transit instead of bringing their cars into the city. The suggestion was well received, and many people discovered the...

What are you doing to celebrate Earth Day on April 24? Last year, on Earth Day, I paid a visit to the Capilano Suspension Bridge. It had been some time since my previous visit so I looked forward to my day of adventure in this beautiful canyon park.
There’s a lot to see and do in the Capilano Suspension Bridge area — not just the thrill of walking over the swaying bridge high over the white water of the Capilano River below. There are nature trails and Native carvings and many things to...
