Looking Forward to the Pacquiao – Cotto Match
It’s exactly a week before the ‘Firepower’ match between Filipino boxer manny pacquiao and Puerto Rico’s Miguel Cotto. The fight will be held on November 14 at the MGM Grand Garden arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The winner will lay claim to Cotto’s WBO welterweight crown.
Next week, the Philippines will once again grind to a halt to watch the Pacman work his magic in the ring. It’s always fascinating to me how Pacquiao can single-handedly bring such peace and quiet to the entire country....

Manny Pacquiao to Fight Miguel Cotto on November 14
Mark the date on your calendar! manny pacquiao’s next big fight is on November 14, 2009, against Puerto Rico’s Miguel Cotto.
Negotiations for the Pacman’s next bout were started almost immediately after Pacquaio defeated Ricky Hatton this May.
The Pacquiao-Cotto match, at 145 pounds, will be at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. The contracts are expected to be finalized by August 11, and the tickets will go on sale on August 17. Only 3,000 tickets will be available for the general public....

First is this must-read from veteran columnist Armando Doronila on Iloilo Views. Joseph Estrada is, unfortunately, not cured of his hallucination that he can do something good for the Philippines. Despite being ousted and convicted for plunder, he continues to dream of regaining political power. But Doronila says he is “damaged goods”, and I hope to high heavens that he is right and that the masses see it in 2010.

... boxer. Singer. Political candidate. Now, special assistant to the Philippine Secretary of Justice Raul Gonzalez.

Manny’s newest appointment was announced on May 8, 2009 just as he arrived from the U.S. after his successful match against Ricky Hatton. His job supposedly entails “intelligence matters", coordination with the National Bureau of Investigation, and whatever functions that the secretary assigns to him.

Manny Pacquiao: 2008 Fighter of the Year
There is no question now that manny pacquiao has earned the right to be called one of the Philippines (if not the world’s) best boxer of modern times. He has proven over and over how great a fighter he is, and not just in one division mind you. Manny’s defeat of Oscar de la Hoya was the icing on the cake of his victories.
Well, the Boxing Writers Association of America has voted Pacquiao as the Fighter of the Year!
Way to go, Manny! You make the Philippines proud.

... of Queen Elizabeth. Not this Queen Elizabeth, but Queen Elizabeth “Queenie” Pacquiao, the youngest daughter of none other than champion boxer manny pacquiao. Queenie was born on December 31, 2008, a few weeks after her daddy defeated Oscar de la Hoya.
