Make a date and spice up your Friday evenings at the Desert Botanical Garden this fall in Phoenix with live music in their garden.
With cooler weather on its way, starting October 2 and through November 6 surround yourself with desert beauty and enjoy local musicians and a chef-attended food station featuring weekly specials for an additional charge. Jazz : L’Hora de Jazz 09 Hits Barcelona

Barcelona loves music, but if there was one genre that I had to say this city loves the most, It’d be Jazz. It seems like every week there is some new Jazz show going down in town. This month, Sundays mean Jazz at the 19th annual AMJM festival called L’Hora de Jazz.
The festival is dedicated to Tete Montoliu, an internationally acclaimed Jazz pianist who was from Barcelona. This year’s festival will be held in different venues around town, so check their official web for prices,...

I believe in supporting up-and-coming bands in Barcelona. Usually, at a concert like Indie.Pendent you’ll hear something fresh that might ring your chimes or might leave you wondering, ‘What the hell was that?’ Either way though, you are sure to see something new, local and most likely interesting.
Indie.Pendent Concert
Indie.Pendent is being put on by BCN Weekly among other sponsors, which is a fun local newspaper (are they still being published or is it just online????) that...

My view from the outside deck of C4
Named the “Best Coffeehouse & Best Wine Bar 2008″ by Best of Greater Phoenix, the Cave Creek Coffee Company & Wine Bar known as C4 is a great spot for morning coffee, afternoon lunch and late night wine and martinis. They have it all! A favorite hang-out of mine, I’ve always been impressed by the eclectic crowd it attracts. Even though it can be a stopping point for many motorcycle riders in the early morning, I’ve also seen everything...

Feel like chicken tonight?
... a night out on the tiles of Lapa.
The pleasantly air-conditioned restaurant is split over three floors, and from Thursday to Saturday there’s live music from 9.30pm onwards.
The range of beers and cachacas is good, making this a decent option for those who just want to enjoy a drink and a spot of MPB (Brazilian Pop Music), samba or pagode while nibbling on bar snacks such as grilled cheese or little pastries filled with cheese, meat or – yes – chicken.
You’ll find Gargalo...

Barcelona’s Best Party? Festa de Gracia

Festa de Gracia - Decorations
Is the Festa de Gracia the best party in all of Barcelona? Maybe. For me it’s a toss up between La Merce which is a larger city-wide party held in September and these local Gracia festivities.
What Gracia has going for it is that it is Gracia. Known for being one of the city’s most lively and local areas, Gracia seems like it’s own little village tucked into a Metropolis. It’s cool….maybe too cool for some, and the best/worst part is that...

Live Music and Jam Sessions: Can Luis
... on that warm July night. When the park closed, we meandered into the Borne neighborhood and came across Can Luis. Peeking in, we saw that there was live music and so we ducked inside.
Can Luis is hidden in El Borne
Can Luis is not a fancy establishment. It is a bit bare-bones, but that doesn’t matter. The people there make up for lagging style. On that Friday night there was a jam session, with about 10 or 15 musicians participating. A woman played the piano, while others played guitar and...

Live Music in Barcelona: Acoustic Anarchy

Barcelona has long been a hotbed for all that is rebellious and anarchy in general. To this day there are still many anarchy groups which meet regularly around the city to organize just how to go about de-organizing society…..
But this coming 31st of July will not be the kind of hard-core anarchist event that Barcelona’s CNT is famous for, but rather a gathering to celebrate creative chaos. The idea is simple and goes like this:
A group of musicians will meet for the first time to compose...

I wish the ticket fairy would give me a ticket to see Cafe Tacvba on their 20:20 tour which makes a stop in Barcelona this July 25th! Celebrating their 20th anniversarry, this fabulous and legendary Mexican band will have played 20 shows in 20 countires.
The band will be playing at Sala Razzamatazz in what is the last concert on the tour. I remember the first time I heard Cafe Tacvba’s Eres about 8 years ago (so not that long really, considering they’ve been around for 20!) and...

4th of July Vegas Fireworks Hot Spots
Warning: strpos() [function.strpos]: Offset not contained in string. in /var/www/blog/wp-content/themes/ISOMagazine/functions.php on line 317
Vegas loves any reason to party, and the 4th is one of the best. Fireworks will pop up all over the valley at parks, entertainment hot spots and any other place where one can safely light a fire. But the sparkly lights are only one reason to watch the sky on (or close to) the Strip. After all, what we are really celebrating is our country and our community, so gather with fellow citizens and toast our democracy.

It’s taken a while to catch on in Rio, but while karaoke may have become a bit of a cliche in some parts of the world, it’s just starting to become a hit with the hipsters here in Rio.
Not only will the new Copacabana branch of Drinkeria Maldita (see previous post for details) be hosting a regular Wednesday índie karaoke’ night, but Choperia Brazooka, in the downtown party district of Lapa, will be holding ‘samba karaoke’on Thursdays, while the popular Cinematheque...

Literary Festival in Santa Teresa
... as a guest house – making it worth stopping by even if you can’t follow Portuguese! At 10am there’s poetry accompanied by live music at the Centro Cultural Laurindo Santos Lobo, at Rua Monte Alegre 306, plus a public reading at Livraria Largo das Letras. Also at Largo das Letras (the blue-canopied building above Largo do Guimaraes, Santa Teresa’s main square) a book swap will be taking place (you might have to get there early to beat me to all any English language books!). ...

Go Underground with the Edinburgh Music Scene
... UNESCO City of Music, Edinburgh still holds it own roots for a groovin’ music scene. The city has a number of excellent venues offering live music throughout the week. Here are some of the best locations popular with locals to hear the latest Scottish talent – you’ll (not?) be surprised to know that most are actually underground, something like the scene here.
