The 10 Best Sushi Restaurants in Scottsdale
More than just trendy watering holes, sushi restaurants in Scottsdale are notable for their creative, fresh approach to traditional japanese cuisine.
So, here we go these are my top picks for the best rolls, sashimi and sake in Scottsdale. Bonzai!
Sushi Roku
Sushi Roku (map), located at the W Scottsdale Hotel, has brought a hip, sophisticated vibe to the center of Scottsdale. For the sushi lover, there is a long list of sushi and rolls, hand and cut. The crab dynamite roll ($12) and the spicy rock...

Review: Traditional Japanese Food at Koi
On the refurbished part of Alcântara, on a gallery of an ancient factory, Koi is much more than another japanese restaurant serving sushi and sashimi.
Its name, Koi, means love and may well express the dedication of a former pub and fashion photographer that decided to follow his dream 4 years ago. As you enter the place you may feel his dedication and love to it through the way you are welcomed, served and obviously the most important, by the food you are given.
The walls too show some of his art...

No Waste at Sydney’s Wafu Japanese Restaurant
... me well at Surry Hills’ Wafu restaurant.
A sushi plate at Wafu
Chef Yukako Ichikawa has developed a few unique schemes to combat waste in her japanese restaurant. Fed up with picky diners who returned half-full plates, she recently instituted a 30% discount for every customer who cleaned theirs. Those wasteful diners don’t get off easily; they’re controversially told to choose another restaurant next time!
The clean plates rule is quite strict; all you can leave is your lemon slices, sushi...

Yamashiro Restaurant Review
Set atop a Hollywood mountain, many come to the popular japanese restaurant Yamashiro as much for its great view of Los Angeles as for their food. The restaurant serves a wide array of traditional japanese food and beverages, with a presentation, accompanied by excellent service, that exudes a refined and classy dining experience.
Familiar menu items include your choice of sushi such as unagi (eel), uni (urchin), or tamago (egg omelet) served to your preference, but their specialty is unique...

Japanese Flavour Hits Sydney with Sake Restaurant and Bar
... e you can bet he knows his stuff. I love the sound of the miso cream scallops and the bite-sized popcorn shrimp with its spicy dipping sauce. The japanese fusion dishes are the ideal match for Kozaemon sakes, a premium range imported from a 300-year-old boutique japanese brewery.
This is the ideal place for an intimate gathering or party thanks to its themed private dining rooms. There largest is the Kampai, which comfortable seats 34, or 30 if you’d prefer the more traditional japanese sunken...

Mos Burger: Patties from the East
... to it. Other yummy choices include the MOS Burger (HK$20) with a unique bolognaise sauce and the Teriyaki Burger (HK$20) that’s true to its japanese roots. With juicy patties that are just the right size, these burgers are absolutely savoury with every bite. Unlike other Western fast food burgers, Mos Burgers aren’t overwhelming in size but more gratifying in taste. I personally like my burger with a side of chips and Mos Burger also has very thick and delicious ones that you can order as...

Japanese Treats at Revamped Ocean Room
... and menu.
The contemporary aesthetics are thanks to award-winning designer Yasumichi Morita. His vision reflects the Ocean Room’s philosophy of japanese traditions meeting the modern world.
“The very basis of my thinking is that I want things which do not exist,” Mr Morita says. “And so I create them.”
For the Ocean Room, he’s created a space which is both grand, yet intimate. Its signature chandelier installation is made from more than 3000 tiny wooden cylinders, fitted together...

Japanese with a Twist at Monkey Magic
Monkey Magic isn’t just the theme song of a fantastic children’s TV show from the 1980s; it’s also the latest japanese restaurant to hit Surry Hills.
Chef Hidetoshi Tsuboi combines the traditional flavours of the East with contemporary Western techniques. While the cuisine is ultimately japanese, his experience working at Italian, Chinese, japanese, and other South-East Asian restaurants shines through.
“My familiarity with these diverse cooking-styles allows me to really fuse ingredients,...
