100 Years of Indy 500 Racing
Every Memorial Day weekend, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (map) holds the largest one-day sporting event in the world, The Indianapolis 500. The first 500 mile auto race was held at the track in1911, making 2011, the 100th running of the famed race.
Billed as the Greatest Spectacle in Racing, the event draws crowds nearing half a million. Arguably, the largest crowd to attend any one day sporting event makes the Indy 500 is a prime spot for people watching.

Great Escape in Downtown Indy

After making sure that our families were well situated, our adventure began with a short drive from our homes to the Conrad Indianapolis.
