Quinoa, The New Trendy Organic Bakery and Coffee Shop
... century building on Rua do Alecrim, near Chiado (Map), there is an new special store that Lisbon was missing – a trendy bakery, coffee shop and gourmet shop, all in one, inside an elegant restored house where the contrast of the old and the modern seems to be perfect. From the old antique shop, they kept the red front door, the arches and the old wooden stair into a mezzanine where you can have your tea, cake, lunch or just sit and read a magazine.
The bakery is proud to announce it’s all 100%...

REVIEW: Arola Restaurant – Gourmet Tapas in Sintra
Set on Penha Longa Spa & Golf Resort, a Sintra 5 star Resort 20 km out of Lisbon (map), Sergi Arola’s creation is a trendy deluxe restaurant and tapas bar. On a light colour ambience with views over the Resort greens, the chef from the former 2 Michelin Stars Madrid’s La Broche gives Lisbon the opportunity to enjoy his creations.
The atmosphere is informal and somewhat chill-out minimalist. Different sets of white, blue and violet colours combine to create different spaces – a long...

REVIEW: Flores Restaurant – Chic Dining in Lisbon
Part of Lisbon’s first contemporary boutique hotel – Hotel Bairro Alto (map), Flores (Flowers) restaurant has managed to keep up the modern trendy-chic atmosphere.
On the right corner of the hotel lobby, as you enter into Flores you also pierce into a secluded room away from Chiados fuss. Serenity abounds in here and everything is made to assure you a tranquil evening. On the walls, black and white photos of Lisbon contrast with old style tiles. A superb combination of classic and modern...

From Alentejo with Love – Gourmet Store, Lisbon
It’s quite a fact that many travellers visiting Lisbon will not be able to cross to the other side of Tagus river and drive further into Alentejo area, where the fields are long and nostalgia is a promise. Alentejo, as much as any other part of Portugal, is well known for it’s products – wine, handicraft, cheeses, olive oil, liquors, jams and hams are just a few of these.
D’Alentejo com Amor store (from Alentejo with love) brought to Lisbon some of the best products you can...

Review: Bocca Restaurant
... In a modern bright style restaurant, where the informal stand side by side with sophistication, the young chef Alexandre Silva is serving stylish gourmet gastronomy.
The first felling you may get once you enter at Rua da Fonseca 87 (see map), in the business part of town, is that you are truly welcome. Bocca team will make sure everything is right from the moment you get in until you leave.
The wide rooms are decorated in bright colours, and glass walls extend them further into the street through...

It’s All About Cheese
Did you grow up on pre-packaged slices of American and Swiss cheese? Or, if your mom was really daring, you might have tasted a chunk of Colby or or wedge of Laughing Cow. If your mom was June Cleaver, then it was all about Velveeta. Lose the past! It’s time for some real cheese--creamy brie, pungent Camembert, delights from sheep and goats, and artisan selections.

REVIEW: Olivier Café
... with a la carte in Olivier Café. Named after his owner, sun of the known Portuguese chef Michel, this restaurant has gained the appreciation of the gourmet lovers. The cosy atmosphere in a sophisticated ambience is partly dued to the presence of Olivier and Nathalie, his sister and manager, constantly trying to make you feel at home. The warm colours and the golden tonalities grant it a refined and exclusive touch.
The Degustation Menu is still one of the top choices of the house. To the five starters...
