Why I Will Never Fly Spirit Airlines Again
You know the old adage, you get what you pay for? Clearly the author had Spirit Airways in mind when coining that phrase. When they say no frills, they mean no frills. Here is my story, you tell me what you think:
We had to fly to St. Thomas in the US Virgin Islands for the weekend of May 22, 2010. So, in looking around for flights for my wife, 2 kids (aged 5 and 7) we considered all options. We look at multiple carriers out of Toronto. We looked at multiple carriers out of Buffalo and...

Our New Year’s Guide to Broward County
There has been talk lately that Broward County is the new South Beach. While I’m not sure if I agree that it has all the pizazz of its southern neighbor, this area has added a lively punch in recent years. Take a look at what is going on around the area for New Year’s Eve:
Lola’s on Harrison will offer 3 seatings on New Year’s Eve. The early seating will be from 5:00 – 6:30pm and includes a 3-course menu for $60++/person. The 2nd seating (7-8pm) is 4-courses and is...

Wine-Based Spa Treatments in Fort Lauderdale
There’s something about wine that I love. Relaxing after a long day with a glass of a fruit forward Cabernet in hand, trekking out to Napa to discover new vineyards, bouncing around from wine tasting to wine tasting — all draw me in, so when you mix wine with some of my already favorite activities, life gets good.
Take this — wine inspired spa treatments. It must have been over a year ago when I had my first wine-inspired spa treatment in Palm Beach. This Champagne Pedicure sent...

5 Ingredient Cooking Classes at Lenore Nolan-Ryan Cooking School
I must admit, some of my favorites recipes are those that are quick with just a few ingredients. While slaving away in the kitchen is great on occasion, I usually don’t have the time for it, nor do I have an entire pantry full of random ingredients. While I’m sifting through new recipes, when 2 sound equally enticing, the one with just 5 ingredients or so will be the one to get the star next to it.

If you love meatballs, you are in for a real treat, as YOLO will host the ultimate meatball showdown in Fort Lauderdale, bringing together some of the top restaurants of South Florida to show off their culinary talents for the Meatballs, Martinis and Madness fundraiser on Thursday, October 15. A little friendly competition will definitely liven up the evening, and I love being able to taste the work of many chefs in one evening, but I really don’t think you can have this competition without...

Review: Valentino’s in Fort Lauderdale
It’s always great to discover a new restaurant, one that isn’t necessarily new, but one that’s more of a hidden gem. It may not feature the fanciest sign or exterior, but it is as charming as can be when you walk inside. Valentino’s wouldn’t call your name if you drove past it as it is located in a strip mall. In fact, it’s very easy to miss even if you know exactly where it is, but it is definitely worth the drive down (or up – whatever the case may be).
Located...

Win a $25 Gift Certificate to Himmarshee Bar & Grille
One of my favorite places to go for lunch in Fort Lauderdale is Himmarshee Bar & Grille. Himmarshee is located just off Las Olas Blvd on 210 SW 2nd Street. They offer a combination of indoor and outdoor dining, a sexy side bar to stop by for a drink and to listen to some music (you must try their Cucumber Watermelon Martini), a Sunday Brunch with a Bloody Mary Bar and flavored Champagnes, free wi-fi and a lunch menu that can’t be beat.

For a meal that’s truly magical, check out Cero Restaurant in Fort Lauderdale
When I go into a restaurant, I want to try the best the chef has to offer. So I get very excited when the chef asks if I want him to cook for me. Such was the case last week when I went into Cero Restaurant at the Ritz-Carlton in Fort Lauderdale. I have always been impressed with Cero, ever since I attended a wine tasting event there last year. Sometimes, when you have a great experience at a restaurant, you hesitate in giong back, thinking they can’t top what you experienced the first time....
