In honor of Earth Day, I am reprising a post about the Backyard Wildlife Sanctuary Program. Protecting wildlife and their habitat is an easy thing to do, and it repays us a hundred-fold. And best of all, it’s something that you can do all year long – no sense isolating your good works to just one day a year!
Over 35,000 acres of Washington wildlife habitat is destroyed by development each year. As you drive around the greater Seattle-Tacoma area, you can’t help but notice...

Amsterdam Goes Green(er)
... part in Amsterdam’s green future, although more development is still needed.
Mr Cohen isn’t waiting for the future, he has already taken eco-friendly steps. Last month LED lamps replaced the energy-guzzling light bulbs that festoon Amsterdam’s humpbacked bridges on a trial basis on three bridges: Nieuwe Spiegelstraat, Leidsestraat and Vijzelgracht. Amsterdam’s most famous bridge, Magere Brug, will follow later. If all 12.000 humpback bridge light bulbs (4 Watts) are eventually...

The exhibition is set to feature up to 100 custom-designed tree houses made...

Throw-away clothes can be turned into something “new” and stylish. if you can’t afford designer items from the boutiques in the shopping malls, check out the thrift shops for throw-aways that can enhance your wardrobe. But this isn’t just about buying “used” clothing, it’s also being careful not...
