The 2008 National christmas Tree in Washington, DC will be lit this evening, Thursday, December 4, 2008, at 5:00 p.m. It is the last time the tree will be lit by President and First Lady Bush. Next christmas, President Obama will have the honors.
Tickets went fast for the event, but the grounds will be open to public 24-hours through January 1, 2009.

Parade of Christmas Ships Lights up the Holidays

One of the many beautiful light displays this time of year is the Parade of christmas Ships.
The christmas Ship is Argosy Cruise Line’s Spirit of Seattle, and it leads off the parade. Onboard will be music and entertainment, including scheduled shore-side caroling. Details: Center House is all decked out in its holiday finest for the annual WinterFest celebration.
Offering up family events, entertainment, and tons of activities, it was full of life this weekend.
One of my favorite displays was this bigger than life-sized snow globe.
There were a couple of trees and some additional decorations inside, and when the air machine got to work, the snow swirled around. It was just like I’d tipped the globe upside down!

The Rockettes Visit Baltimore for Christmas

The famous Radio City christmas Spectacular, starring the world-famous Rockettes, is coming to Baltimore in early December.
As part of a 23 city national tour, the Rockettes, dressed in their famous Babes in Toyland outfits, will delight audiences with their precision chorus line dancing and signature high kicks.
I saw the Rockettes’ show in New York City a few years ago and it is a fun performance.

Christmas Concert and Tree Lighting in Martin Place

The iconic christmas tree in Martin Place has delighted Sydneysiders for the last 72 years. On Thursday it will light up once again.
The 20-metre high tree features 58, 000 LEDS lights, but don’t worry eco-friendly readers. The city will purchase GreenPower to offset the electricity used. The lights will also be turned off from 2 am to 6 am for the first time, saving around two tones of greenhouse gas emissions. That’s like taking a car off the road for ten months!
