Women Cruise to Improve
Singles Travel International and The Dating Makeover Coach LLC are introducing a new cruising experience aboard the Celebrity Solstice. According to Tammy Weiler, President of Fun & Adventure, “this is more than a vacation; it’s a journey into your soul to create and realize a whole new you.”
Tailored specifically for women, what make this 7-day Caribbean cruise different are the celebrity experts who spend a portion of the trip with each guest as personal life coaches. The celebrity...

Philipsburg, St. Maarten, an Oasis of the Seas port of call
Tiny but mighty, Philipsburg is only four streets deep and one mile long! John Philips, a Scottish captain in the Dutch navy, founded the city in 1763. The picturesque town is located between Great Bay, where the cruise ships dock and Great Salt Pond, named after the areas historical salt manufacturing plant.
Visitors will see Créole houses along the shore, colorful examples of traditional West Indian architecture. And yes, of course, there is plenty of duty-free shopping along the main streets...

Charlotte Amalie, an Oasis of the Seas port of call
Charlotte Amalie, the capital city of the U.S. Virgin Islands, is one of the most storied and famed ports on any cruise itinerary. Its lovely deep blue-water harbor was once a refuge for swashbuckling pirates such as Blackbeard and Drake who established it as hub for trading stolen goods (booty arg!).
Located on the island of Saint Thomas, Charlotte Amalie is a relatively small town with a population of 19,000. The city is named after the queen consort to King Christian V of Denmark, Charlotte...

Labadee Haiti, an Oasis of the Seas port of call
Labadee Haiti
As part of the Oasis of the Seas excitement, I thought it would be fun to build on the anticipation with posts about ports of call for the world’s largest cruise ship. Its first sailing will be to Labadee, a private resort on the northern coast of Haiti. The area is leased by the island nation of Haiti to Royal Caribbean International and hence only Royal Caribbean can take you there!
It gets its name from Marquis de La’Badie, a Frenchman who first settled the area in the...

Dunns River Falls Jamaica
For cruisers lucky enough to have Ocho Rios, Jamaica on their itinerary, be sure to stop at Dunn’s River Falls. Guys, recall the iconic scene of Ursula Andress walking onto the beach in the James Bond Movie “Dr. No”? That was Dunn’s River beach, just below the falls.
My friend and coworker Yolanda Forrest grew up in Jamaica, and the falls were a family tradition.
“As a child my family took frequent car rides to various locations in Jamaica to escape the daily hustle and bustle....

My Oasis of the Seas story
Let me begin by saying it was a perfect South Florida day. The sky was cloudless and blue. The temperature, around 72 degrees with a cool, 9 mph breeze out of the northwest.
I had spent most of Saturday teaching my online business statistics class, so by 3:30 in the afternoon I was most definitely ready to get out and go run somewhere. I have, until now, resisted posting an “Oasis of the Seas” story because, frankly, everyone else on the web already has. You probably already know, the Oasis...

Visit Cayman Island’s Stingray City
The first thing you will notice when you pull into port at Cayman Islands is how flat the island is. The second thing is how vibrant the economy is, with new buildings being constructed in support of the local banking business. After taking this in, you will be eager to get off the ship and onto the island for a memorable shore excursion.
Stingray City has been a favorite for decades. Located near interconnected sand bars from Morgan Harbor to Rum Point, you will find an amazing congregation...

The Holland America ship MS Rotterdam recently announced a new Alaskan Explorer itinerary for 2010 that includes the world renowned Hubbard Glacier. North America’s largest tidewater glacier, it encompasses 76 miles from the Yukon to the sea at Yakutat Bay and Disenchantment Bay. The glacier was named after Gardiner G. Celia Cruz, the internationally renowned Queen of Salsa, would sing !Ay, Mi Cuba! with sincere fondness for her embargoed island.

Cruise lines based in the United States have been sidelined from adding the island to Caribbean itineraries since the policy was established in 1959. But not so for Britain’s Thomson Cruises, who recently announced its new ship, the Thomson Dream, will begin visits to Havana in December 2010. The Thomson Dream, which formerly sailed as the Costa Europa,...

Port of San Juan on my mind
I was glad to find the Old San Juan area relatively unaffected by the large fuel storage facility fire, which is the result of 11-fuel storage tanks igniting very early Friday morning October 23, 2009. The fire is located at the Caribbean Petroleum Corp across the bay about 4 miles to the southwest of where the cruise ships dock in the Port of San Juan PR.
Other than the fact cruise passengers will undoubtedly be able to see the smoke plum and there will be no Bacardi Rum factory tours until Monday,...

Astronomy Cruise
If you haven’t started yet, it is not to late to celebrate the official “International Year of Astronomy.” 2009 denotes the 400th anniversary of Galileo’s observations of the moon, stars and Jupiter.
There are several attractions to cruising for astronomers. For one, cruising in the southern hemisphere offers nighttime views of constellations that aren’t visible in the North. Secondly, getting away from city light pollution offers clearer views of the night sky.
So what is...

Top ten Carnival Cocktails
After some “effort” I’ve compiled my list for the Top 10 cocktails served up by our beloved Isaacs on Carnival Cruise Ships around the world. You can mix them up at home, but of course they taste best from a Lido Deck Lounge Chair. I’ve slipped in some relevant trivia that will provide interesting conversation when shared with your cruise mates.

Cozumel Archeology
Photo courtesty of Consejo de Promoción Turística de Cozumel
When one thinks of a cruise to Cozumel, generally beaches and crystal blue water come to mind. While there is definitely plenty of that, Cozumel, like much of Mexico in general, is rich with an ancient archeological heritage.
For cruisers seeking a historical experience, ask at the pier about San Gervasio. A short ride on the transversal road on Km 7.5 to the central-northern portion of Cozumel’s Island will take you there.

Cruise Port Overnight Stay
One of the most important reasons people cruise is to sample the multiple island destinations that a singe cruise offers. But have you ever found yourself wishing you could stay a little bit longer? Most people simply return to the island that caught their fancy at a later date for a land based vacation. However, there are increasingly other options – some cruises are staying in port overnight to allow for more excursion options.
Ships in Lahaina, Maui make an overnight stay so passengers...

Cruising From Miami
As a new cruise blogger to PlanetEye I would like to introduce myself. My name is Ryan Wahlstrom.
My first introduction to cruise came in 1995, when I founded and ran the Caribbean Carriage Company, the first and only horse drawn carriage touring service for cruise ship visitors in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Today I follow the cruise industry on my website www.cruisemarketwatch.com and have an iPhone app for cruisers at www.alwaysbecruising.com.
I love the worry free, all-inclusive, multiple destination...
