On the Horizon: The Hay Merchant Craft Beer Bar
Houstonians who are already in love with the Prohibition-era cocktails served up at Anvil Bar & Refuge are in for a treat. The brains behind Anvil – Kevin Floyd and Bobby Heugel, the bar’s co-owners – have announced their latest venture, set to launch in late fall 2011. The new craft beer bar “will be to craft beer what Anvil is to cocktails.” According to the press release sent out today, The Hay Merchant will be offering an extensive international craft beer selection and a “stepped up food menu that reflects the concept.”
As a major Anvil fan I’m thrilled to see their concept growing. While the craft beer selection at Anvil is good, a new location dedicated to everything craft beer is exciting for those of us who want to see the “Anvil touch” expand into the world of beer.
The Hay Merchant will open at 1100 Westheimer Rd. (map) at the former Chances location. In the meantime, visit Anvil Bar & Refuge at 1424 Westheimer Rd. (map) to enjoy their unique, ever-evolving selection of cocktails … and to keep tabs on all the latest news on The Hay Merchant. I promise to keep you posted as details unfold!
