From Nightclub to Boutique Accommodation, Sydney’s Altamont Hotel
Darlinghurst’s Hotel Altamont was once home to the Cauldron Nightclub, but these days it enjoys life at a much quieter volume.
There are just 14 rooms in the revamped Georgian style building. Thankfully the upgrade hasn’t strayed too far from the hotel’s origins though. The exposed sandstone fixtures and carved timber furniture hint at the building’s rich history.
There are modern conveniences though, including complimentary internet and local phone calls, and cable television. Also contemporary is the hotel’s approach to pets. Rather than turning Fido away, the Altamont’s staff will welcome him with open arms.
Hotel Altamont is ideally situated in the heart of Darlinghurst’s famous café strip, so you never have to walk too far for a feed. There are also plenty of nightspots nearby, all eager to take over where the Cauldron left off.
A stay at the Hotel Altamont is a luxurious one, but with just 14 rooms you’ll need to book well in advance if you hope to experience it.
