Free App Helps Plan Your Western Canada Skiing Trip

SnowSeekers, the website featuring information about skiing in Western Canada, has just released a new iPhone/iPad/iPod app that brings the best features of it’s website to your fingertips!  The best part?  It’s free!

SnowSeekers Go-Guide 2.0 will have 19 popular Western Canada snow destinations within one application, instead of having to download each destination as in previous versions of the guides.  Some of the really cool features mentioned on the website include:

  • Digital coupons that can be used at ski resorts, restaurants, and more!

  • The app also acts as a guidebook showing you local restaurants, hotels, and things to do on your rest day from skiing.
  • A “Hot Spot” map that will show you where the hottest pubs, restaurants, clubs, and hotels are at that moment, so you can join in or avoid the crowds!
  • Daily weather and snow reports, including a “powder alarm” that sets off an alert on your phone when your favorite resort gets over 5 cm of snow!
  • It also includes digital mountain trail maps, mountain stats, and attraction information.

The SnowSeekers site promises updates and more features to be added in the future, which will also be free.

According to Jim Barr, the SnowSeekers President,

“Last season our first app acted as a digital guidebook, this new 2.0 version is more of a digital concierge,” said Barr. “This year’s app really takes you by the hand and directs you to where you need to go and what you need to do in order to maximize your time in Western Canada. And that goes for both locals and international travelers.”

Check out the demo video below and see for yourself!  It looks like a very useful  tool for anyone traveling to Western Canada to ski or snowboard!
