Family Fun: First Night Boston 2011

Just because you have kids doesn’t meant that you can’t go out for New Year’s eve. This New Year’s Eve bundle up the kids and take the family to  Boston’s “First Night”celebration. First Night is a great New Year’s option for families-it starts early in the afternoon, is alcohol -free and is affordable. Best of all, there are  tons of live entertainment choices-both indoors and out-that will please everyone. So whatever you choose to do with your family in the final days of 2010, have a safe and happy New Year. Cheers!

First Night Boston 2011, December 31st, 1 PM-Midnight at more than 40 venues throughout the city. First Night Boston Buttons are $18, children under 4 are free and are sold at dozens of locations throughout the city including Store 24, Au Bon Pain and Borders Books.  First Night Boston is the country’s oldest and largest New Year’s celebration of the arts. Be sure to purchase a First Night button for admission for the Family Festival at the Hynes Convention Center. Then check out the ice sculptures in Copley Square and in the Boston Common. Other highlights include the Grand Procession on Boylston Street at 5:30 PM followed by the family fireworks on the Boston Common at 7 PM. The celebration culminates at midnight with a second fireworks display over Boston Harbor. Tip: You will be enjoying First Night with as many as one million other revelers, so you definitely need to take the T into town. Copley , Arlington, Boylston and Park Street are all good choices and close to many First Night activities.
