More Useful Guided Tours to Roam Buenos Aires

Here is a creative way to roam Buenos Aires. The Mobile Audio Guide is a service provided by the Subsecretary of Tourism, an agency of the Government of the City of  Buenos Aires, which has designed several sightseeing circuits of historical interest, each composed of various stops. Corresponding to each stop is an audio archive that may be accessed by your cellphone or downloaded from the website. The presentation includes remarks by historical figures, classic songs and selected film dialogues. There are 12 tour circuits in all. All stops on the circuits are hosted by a narrator who provides general information and introduces commentaries, and these are:

1. Plaza de Mayo by Mario Pergolini
2. Abastoby Antonio Carrizo
3. Avenida de Mayo by Victor Laplace
4. Palermo Viejo by Magdalena Ruiz Guiñazú
5. Monserrat by Jorge Marrale
6. Puerto Madero by Nacha Guevara
7. San Telmoby Horacio Fontova
8. Avenida Corrientes by Adriana Varela
9. Palermo Bosques by Carlos Ulanovsky
10. Recoletaby Juan Miceli
11. Retiroby Daniel Malnatti
12. La Bocaby Eduardo De la Puente

Also, among the many guest voices you will hear are: Eva and Juan Perón, the singers Carlos Gardel and Edmundo Rivero, the writers Jorge Luis Borges and Julio Cortázar, and the sports idols such as Diego Maradona and Guillermo Vilas.

To enter the MAG you will need the circuit maps which indicate the location of each stop and provide access to the audio archives. You can find the maps at any of the Tourist Information Centers located around the city or you can print them by clicking here.

You can also download all the audios and store them in your mp3, or you can just listen to them directly though you cellphone. Each stop has a corresponding code which provides access to the recorded commentaries. All the codes can be found by clicking here.

To communicate with the MAG service dial *8283 on your cellphone. Then choose a language: English, Spanish or Portuguese. After that just enter the code of your current stop. I think it is an innovating way of touring the city…
