Getting Fit for the Holidays

exercise, holidaysIf you’re still eating left-over candy from Halloween and found it hard to turn down goodies from your Thanksgiving meal, it’s time to consider getting in shape before the start of the holiday (over-eating) season. During the month of December consider a fitness program sponsored by the posh W Hotel Scottsdale.

Co-hosted with the Village Health Club & Spa, the W is challenging locals to get fit before the New Year with fitness classes, including Pilates, yoga, boot camp, kickboxing, meditation and more. For a mere $10 per session classes are held every Wednesday from 7 – 8 pm at the hotel’s WET outdoor pool deck. Each class will be taught by a certified instructor from the Village. These classes will culminate at the end of the year with the W’s New Year, New You event, where class participants can win various prizes.

If you haven’t had the opportunity to check it out firsthand, W Scottsdale (map) is a newer addition to the Scottsdale Fashion Mall area that offers a modern approach to the more traditional Arizona escape. Typical of the W style, the natural elements like flowing water are infused throughout the interior to create a sense of calm. But don’t be fooled by its serene locale, it’s a place where you can mix and mingle amongst the fashionable elite, dine at the hippest Asian restaurant Sushi Roku, socialize in Shade, their sultry bar and lounge, flirt in the trendy Living Room and retreat for a cocktail at the sunset beach bar.  I think you’ll find that the W is a posh new addition to the Scottsdale landscape.

The Village Health Club & Spa is also a relatively new addition to Phoenix.  With four locations throughout the Valley, this is not your average gym.  The facilities are top-notch providing the best and pretty much the most of every type of activity from swimming pools, racquetball courts and spas.  They’ve made a name for themselves by catering to the elite, where actual sweating may be frowned upon.

Purchase your tickets in advance online for these classes and get a jump on your New Year’s Resolution and new physique!
