Annie Leibovitz Photographs Hit Sydney Art Gallery
When it comes to photography, few names are more revered than Annie Leibovitz. The American snapper’s images are iconic, from the intimate portrait of John Lennon and Yoko Ono that graced the cover of Rolling Stone to the photo of a nude Demi Moore from Vanity Fair.

Her career is exhaustive, but Sydneysiders can see a snapshot with the new exhibition A Photographer’s Life: 1990-2005. The exhibit has previously toured the United States and Europe, and it’s thankfully our turn. The display capturing 15 years in her career including her work in Sarejevo during the 90s, advertising campaigns, and of course many celebrity portraits.
Leibovitz has an uncanny knack for getting the best from her subjects, so the photographs of big Hollywood names like Al Pacino, Brad Pitt, and our own Nicole Kidman are well worth a look.
The 200 images on show come together in a beautiful hardcover coffee table book, which is available from the Museum of Contemporary Art store for $85. It’s a bit of an investment, but a lovely way to relive the exhibition in the privacy of your own home.
