Wine Down at Festival at The Farm
Did you know that Arizona is one of the most geographically-diverse states in the nation? More than just a sun-baked desert, from the north you’ll find the largest Ponderosa Pine forest on the continent to the rich farmlands where lettuce and other vegetables are king outside of Yuma. Arizona’s high desert produces a climate similar to Mendoza, Argentina – hot daytime temperatures cooling off at night, the perfect recipe for a happy grape. Certain spots have the perfect climate and elevation for growing top-notch grapes.
Although wine has been produced in Arizona since the 1700′s by the Spanish Missionaries, wine making started in 1973 in Sonoita at the southern end of the state. Today, there are 45 licensed wineries throughout the state.
Highly regarded by Robert Parker, of the Wine Spectator, Arizona wines have even been served many times at White House events. This year these award winning wines will be poured at two separate prestigious James Beard House dinners.
Now, it’s your turn to decide. At the Festival at The Farm, see if these local winemakers have what it takes to make a great vintage. The Festival at The Farm lets guests sniff, swirl and sip wines from more than 25 Arizona wineries, all while sitting under the pecan trees enjoying a gourmet picnic lunch at the Farm at South Mountain. Listen to live music, bid at a live auction, and learn at seminars hosted by local wine experts from 1-5 p.m. on Saturday, November 6.
Now you can taste the fruits of these winemakers’ labor at a wine-filled outdoor festival. It’s the way you were meant to live!
