The 2010 Adidas Auckland Marathon
We are at the time and age when obesity is the norm and spending your life on the couch is the way to spend your life. We are at the time and age when fast food really has a bad name and the lifestyle that we are passing on to our kids is giving them a shorter lifespan than what we have.
But, the good thing is that, we are now well-informed of the lifestyle change that we have to make. Some people hit the gym, go organic, walk around the park or run for fitness. And for avid Kiwi runners, the Adidas Auckland Marathon is the holy grail of all New Zealand-hosted marathons.
The Adidas Auckland Marathon, incorporating the NZ 2010 Marathon Championships, has offered over 14,000 participants to take to the streets of Auckland, with the marathon and half-marathon competitions over Auckland’s Harbour Bridge. Interested runners have the option of running the Full Marathon, Half Marathon, Quarter Marathon, 5km walk or the all new kids marathon which is available for two age groups: 7-9 years old and 10-13 years old.
This leading road race has a room from anyone who is an elite runner through to a recreational runner who wants to set a new personal standard in fitness or finish time. The Marathon will be on Saturday, 31 October 2010. You can check the entry details here.
The Marathon ends with a post-party event, “Party in the Park” at the Victoria Park which for me, is a really good way to cap the event with the fans and to celebrate milestones of our achievements in fitness. And to this I say, “Viva la vida”!
