Halloween Family Events

Gather your little goblins for lots of frightful fun. Here are two low-key Halloween activities for families to enjoy together this weekend.

Always one of Franklin Park Zoo’s (1 Franklin Park Rd., Dorchester)(Map) most well-attended events,  Zoo Howl(October 30 and October 31; 11 AM-3PM) features a haunted maze, face painting, entertainment from Radio Disney and a trick-or-treat trail. The highlight of the day though, has to be watching the animals play and demolish their pumpkins!

How about a family-friendly Halloween that both parents and kids can enjoy? Aura Restaurant at the Seaport Hotel (1 Seaport Lane)(Map) will be hosting a “Fine Dining Family-Style” Halloween event on October 29 (reservations from 5:30 PM). It’s an inspired idea- parents can choose from a  $30 three-course prix fixe menu which features items like grilled pork tenderloin with potatoes,Concord grape sauce, Napa cabbage and blue cheese.    Kids choices are way better than the average kid’s menu . This month’s choices include “sweet brain nuggets” or sweet and sour turkey meatballs and a grilled bat wing- a chicken breast served with ketchup and blood orange. Even babies can sup well-there’s a seasonal plate of three baby purees served with Cheerios.   Costumes for the kids are encouraged, and after dinner kids along with their parents go trick or treating in the hotel.
