Vacationing the Entertainment Book Way – Save Cash on Your Next Getaway

I’ve always relied on my local Entertainment Book for cheap meals and fun experiences around my home town. But it wasn’t until a recent trip to Adelaide that I realized how valuable it is on a getaway.

My husband and I planned to stay in Adelaide for a week, so we were sure we’d make back the money spent on the book pretty quickly. In fact, it took just 24 hours from touching down; after dinner in our restaurant’s hotel and breakfast at a local café the next morning we were ahead. In fact, by the time we flew home we’d saved more than $300. That definitely helped to justify a few of those vacation splurges!piggybank

But the Entertainment Book’s appeal is about more than saving money. For people unfamiliar with their holiday destination, it’s a great way to learn what’s worth seeing and doing. My husband and I discovered many wonderful restaurants after their menus caught our eye, and we also found a few tourist attractions we weren’t aware of.

And who would have thought the Entertainment Book would help me get in shape? While those three-course meals might not have done my waistline any favors, the walking we did getting to restaurants did. One morning we spent 45 minutes walking from the tram stop to the only Entertainment Book café serving breakfast. That might sound like a bit of an effort, but it was a lovely way to see parts of the area we never would have discovered otherwise. The café also served up the best bacon and eggs that I ate all vacation.

If you’ve already got your local Entertainment Book, you’ll enjoy discounts on a second edition. Even if you don’t, if you’ve got an extended getaway planned this handy little book of discounts is likely to pay for itself very quickly.
