Get to Know Auckland’s History this Spring: Join us in Heritage Walks

Spring is here and the wonderful sunshine and blooming flowers are beckoning you to get out of your winter slumber. You are having a tea break and wondering when will you have the time to stretch and have a walk around the city; enjoying the sights the city has to offer.

Sadly, the reality for most of us who are leading 9-to-5 lives, we don’t seem to enjoy the beauty of spring because we are lacking time, we can’t travel far from the city, and we constantly find ourselves hoping to win the battle of housework, balancing the check book, doing laundry and picking the kids from school.

But do you know that you can enjoy the sights and history of the city during the weekends with guided heritage walks in the historic central Auckland suburbs of Parnell, Grafton, Newmarket and Epsom?

This unique programme by Parnell Trust is a series of heritage walks is offered between September and April each year. This series of 9 different walks caters to everyone in all ages, perfect exercise for adults and wonderful channel for the curiosity and robustness of kids, and I guess, interesting historical facts, commentaries and anecdotes would provide a very good conversational topic. The walk is around 1 to 2 hours depending on the location and the walks are mostly offered on weekends.

The revelation of heritage treasures of old Auckland suburbs comes with a $5 fee per adult but children are free. This is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy your spring, have a walk, learn an interesting thing or two about Auckland, and bond with your kids!

Check the schedule of the walks here because bookings in advance are essential for all walks.

Please phone 09 379 2095 ext 9704 for tickets.
