Haunted Halloween at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort

Uninvited guests often wreak havoc at any party they crash.  This is exactly the case when Maleficent, the wicked queen from Sleeping Beauty, unleashes her fury at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort during Disney’s Haunted Halloween.

Furious that she has never been invited to the Halloween bash, Maleficent is determined to use her darkest powers to throw the hottest party full of unexpected surprises.  Each Thursday through Sunday, until October 31st, the Mistress of all Evil will scatter frightful fun throughout the entire park.

Main Street U.S.A. is transformed into Main Street U.S.A. – Ghost Town where ghosts from a forgotten era will roam aimlessly up and down the darkened, dimly lit street.  Suddenly without warning music swells into a heart-pounding beat and mist fills the air as a Ghostly Gathering conjures spirits of long forgotten townsfolk around every corner.

Maleficent has transformed Adventureland into a Tribal Burial Ground where demented zombies and ghostly tribal warriors unexpectedly greet their nightly guests.  Everyone is invited to the Inferno Dance Party in Tomorrowland where guest dance to a retro-mix and Halloween hits alongside the evil Queen of Hearts, and the Hag from Snow White.

Not even popular attractions were spared Maleficent’s wrath as guests can visit Main Street Haunted Hotel and Adventureland’s  Demon Jungle. The heart pounding Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy has become as popular as the original ride.

Main Street U.S.A. - Ghost Town is far from the delightful Main Street I like to visit

Perhaps her best evil doings are unleashed on Sleeping Beauty’s Castle as Maleficent’s curse has instigated the Nightmare in the Sky.  A pyrotechnic show where lighting, music and high-definition digital projection are perfectly meshed in one fabulous nighttime show.  The castle appears to be engulfed by thorns and flames as her evil and haunting laugh, ghostly music and pyrotechnics fill the air.

A much darker side to Halloween than those hosted at the other Disney parks,  guests at Hong Kong Disneyland can participate in a Haunted Tour in the Dark or feast on a spooky buffet at the Hotel.   Keep an eye out for Mickey and his pals as the popular Disney characters will be dressed in all-new spooky Halloween costumes.

While I am a fan on the “Not So Scary” approach to Halloween, I can see that this event would offer a huge draw to a slightly older crowd and sounds like great fun.
