It’s Coming Up Roses In Auckland, New Zealand!

Are you after a free family – friendly festival full of music, food, vibrant colours, and entertainment?

Then head along to the Parnell Festival of Roses!

Along with the newly bloomed roses there will be craft stalls, poetry, actors and much more. It is such a fun way to spend a summer afternoon!

Even the name evokes thoughts of sunshine, fun, and laughter.

The Parnell Festival of Roses will run from 12 noon to 6pm on the 6th – 7th of November at the Dove Myer Robinson Park more commonly known as the Parnell Rose Gardens in Parnell, Auckland, New Zealand.

The festival extends beyond the rose gardens with Parnell Road Markets and Parnell Farmer’s Markets.

The road markets will be lined with roses and shops and will be selling a range of fantastic products at great prices, with street stalls, music, and entertainment for children.

The farmer’s market is where you can by seasonal produce, baked foods and artisan goods.

Some of the roses in the area have been bred by internationally celebrated rose breeders. The park is named after the longest serving mayor of Auckland, who served for 18 years. The ‘white garden’ is a popular venue for weddings.

As of 2010, the park was home to the oldest manuka and the largest pohutukawa tree in Auckland. To enjoy the blooms at their fullest, visit between October and April. The park is also home to some fantastic native trees.

So head along for a fun day out, if you are visiting from overseas it would be a great way to see how Kiwi’s spend their weekends, or if you live in Auckland it will be a great way to get to know and appreciate your beautiful local botantical gardens.
