Food & Wine Events in October
There’s no better time than now to work up an appetite with the abundance of food and wine events taking place this month. From a Ceviche Throwdown to a Caviar & Champagne Spa night, this month is sure to offer a menu of palate pleasing events.
10/4 Skip out of work early for a do-it-yourself cocktail course at Soyka. Managing bartender, Keagen Brosterhous, will teach students the history behind classic cocktails. 10/4 AIWF South Florida and Bulletproof Wine & Spirits is hosting a fabulous wine dinner at Ta-boo Restaurant (221 Worth Ave, Palm Beach) on Monday, October 4 starting at 7pm. This 4-course dinner will feature such delights as Maryland Style Crab Cakes with Mango Cream, Roasted Herb Encrusted Lamb Rack with sun-dried cranberry demi-glace and scalloped potatoes and a matching wine for each course. 10/6 Treat yourself to a night of luxury at the Willow Spa Stream at Turnberry for an exclusive “Caviar” & Champagne Spa Night to preview the brand new Kerstin Florian Caviar Facial and Susan G Komen Pink Treatment Room while raising money for breast cancer research. This evening’s event will feature 25-minute mini spa treatments, pink champagne, tarot card readings and take home gifts. Cost is $75 and all proceeds will benefit the Susan G Komen for the Cure Miami – Ft. Lauderdale affiliate. 10/8 Sabbia at Brickell (formerly Cafe Sci Sci) will celebrate their grand opening on Friday, October 8 starting at 8pm. 10/10 The 1st Annual Boca Raton Wine & Food Festival will take place on Sunday, October 10 on East Camino Real. This event will bring together over 70 of South Florida Hottest Chefs with wines from around the world. In addition, there will be live cooking demos, a sommelier certification class, live entertainment and a market place. Cost is $85 for general admission or $125 for VIP. Tickets can be purchased online at bocaratonwineandfoodfestival.com The event starts at 5:00 pm for VIP, and 6:30 pm for general admission.
10/12 Alton Brown will visit Lincoln Theatre (541 Lincoln Road, Miami Beach), as part of his Good Eats 2 book tour. Tickets are required and you will receive 2 when you purchase his book for $37.50 This events starts at 7:30 pm. (map)
10/13 The 17th Annual Great Match: Vivacious Varietals, Tantalizing Tastes will take place at the Biltmore (1200 Anastasia Ave, Coral Gables) from 6-8:30 p.m. to benefit Feeding South Florida. Guests will have the chance to taste over 200 Spanish wine and food samplings from 8 Miami chefs. Tickets are $45 and proceeds will benefit Feeding South Florida.
10/15-16 The 9th Annual Miami International Wine Fair will take place at the Miami Beach Convention Center, 1901 Convention Center Dr., Miami Beach (map). Wines from nearly 20 countries will be participating and local restaurants will be offering up samples to attendees. Nearly 1800 wines will be served from 500 producers. 10/15 Lake Worth Food & Wine Experience takes place at the Lake Worth Cultural Center to benefit the American Lung Association. This year’s event will feature delectable tastings from the area’s best restaurants like Cafe Chardonnay, Truluck’s and South Shores Tavern, combined with wine samplings provided by Total Wine. Cost is $50 for general admission or $75 for VIP.
10/16 93 Rock and the Seminole Hard Rock present the 2nd Annual “Rock ‘N’ Brew” from 1-5 pm. Enjoy more than 100 brews from around the world, food tastings and live entertainment. Tickets are $20 in advance, $30 at the door and $10 for your designated drivers — and can be purchased at the Hard Rock Live Box Office or through Ticketmaster. 10/17 Help raise money for the Gulf Fisherman at the 1st Annual Ceviche Throwdown at SUGARCANE Raw Bar Grill, 3252 NE 1st Ave, Miami (map) from 3-6 pm where 11 of Miami’s top chefs including Timon Balloo (Sugarcane), Jonathan Eismann (Fin), Douglas Rodriguez (Ocean), Clay Conley (Buccan) and more will compete. 10/23-27 Taste of Peru — The 1st Gastronomic Festival will take place at the Miami Beach Convention Center, 1901 Convention Center Dr, Miami Beach and bring together food and wine tastings, music, dance, master classes, a Pisco Sour competition and more. 10/26-27 America’s Food & Beverage Show gives you a chance to taste your way through the largest selection of food and beverages from around the world. Meet with exhibitors, discover new product showcases, watch America’s Chef Competition or attend valuable seminars. This one is targeted towards the trade and takes place at the Miami Beach Convention Center, 1901 Convention Center Dr., Miami Beach.
