Hot Stuff Hits Safford

salsa, food and beverage, live music, dancing, festivalIf you head south to the communities of Safford, Pima, Thatcher, Solomon, Clifton, Duncan, Willcox, and York, Arizona you’ll have your choice of dozens of Mexican restaurants.  If you explore further you’ll find a family owned tortilla factory, homegrown chilies and other businesses who have all joined together to make up the Arizona’s Salsa Trail®.

To taste for yourself what makes the Salsa Trail® so great, celebrate every thing salsa at the hottest event in Southern Arizona-the 4th Annual EuroFresh SalsaFest on Friday and Saturday, September 24-25 in Safford.

If you think you can handle the heat take a road trip to this historic Town Square to experience chihuahua races, skydivers, hot air balloons, award-winning salsa, live music and dancers.  Watch 25 Chihuahuas race to the finish line to win the title of the fastest dog, judge the salsa entries in the Salsa Challenge Tent and win give aways from local Arizona attractions, including grand prize resort stays at Las Palomas beach and golf resort and Peñasco Del Sol hotel in Sandy Beach, Rocky Point, Mexico.

Friday night downtown Safford will be aglow with hot air balloons as the balloons line Main Street and light up the city. Early Saturday morning watch the balloon lift off and join the locals in the Salsa Walk.

Other activities during the SalsaFest include a Festival Marketplace, salsa music and dancing, food demonstrations, chile roasting and jalapeño and salsa eating competitions.  If you have an award winning salsa recipe download an entry form for the competition.

The month of September was proclaimed Arizona’s Salsa Trail Month by Governor Jan Brewer. Celebrate by treating your family to a small town festival where all the proceeds go to the Safford’s Lion Club. What a great way to add a little heat to your weekend!
