Arlington Cinema ‘N’ Drafthouse Offers Comedy, Music, & More

The Arlington Cinema ‘N’ Drafthouse is one of the most unique movie theaters, restaurants and bars in the Washington DC area. In fact, it’s probably the only venue that combines sub-run films (most screened 30-90 days after first run films,) live comedy, special events and other entertainment with comfortable seats and a big screen.

One of things that makes The Drafthouse’s unique is that they often pair movies with a theme, so you might get live stand up comedy paired with a hilarious film one night and a beer or wine tasting with another movie the following night.

ARLINGTON DRAFTHOUSELocated in a 65 year old Art Deco theater in Arlington, Virginia, “The Drafthouse” is celebrating its 25th year.

The attraction that draws people is a combination of affordable movies, starting at just $1.00 on Mondays (plus Monday Night Football), and $5.50 most nights, plus nationally recognized live stand-up comedians for a cover as little as just $10.00.

The theater also hosts events, including television shows, Washington Redskins games, movie festivals and even wine and beer tastings. Plus, if you want to try your luck at stand-up comedy, check out their open mic comedy nights every Saturday at 10:30..

A few of the upcoming events include:

  • Thursday September 16, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. - Beer Wars – Brewed in America, a behind the scenes exploration of the U.S. beer industry paired with a beer tasting.
  • Friday – September 24 and 25, 2010 (three shows) – $25.00 – Former Oakland Raiders cheerleader, stand up comic and ‘MADtv’ cast member, Anjelah Johnson brings some of her comedy that led to the viral video sensation of the rude fast food employee Bon Qui Qui (30 million YouTube views) and Tammy the nail salon lady to The Drafthouse.
  • Thursday November 18, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. – $10.00 – Just in time for the start of ski season, the documentary Light the Wick follows some of the world’s best athletes on skies in 3D and HD as they ski some of the most challenging ski mountains in the world.

Plus, all of the Washington Redskins games are also broadcast on their large screen.

The Drafthouse also offers a full menu of sandwiches and wraps, pizzas, salads and traditional bar food such as wings and burgers.
