Trans-Siberian Orchestra Steams into DC
At some time, you’ve probably seen the beer commercial or the YouTube video with the house that’s been overly decorated with what seems like a zillion synchronized and flickering Christmas lights and enough computerized lighting gear for a rock band’s show at a major arena, all set to high energy electronic music. Well that song is “Wizards in Winter” by the band Trans Siberian Orchestra.
Tickets to see Trans-Siberian Orchestra just went on sale for their November 18th performance at the Verizon Center in Washington DC.

Trans-Siberian Orchestra was formed 14 years ago by just three founding members and has grown to close to 40 active musicians and singers, split into two touring groups.
Their music is unique, starting with traditional Christmas music and blending in multiple styles, vocals and instrumentation including a mix of classical and symphonic, with electronica, synthesizers and progressive hard rock and heavy metal.
The elaborate concerts include a complex light and laser shows, synchronized pyrotechnics, as well as on stage theatrics and vocals that have taken their songs and rock operas to new heights and global critical acclaim.
The band’s 5 studio CDs, three of Christmas music, the other two with a more classically themed sound, usually include more than 60 classical musicians and a full choir joining them in the studio.
One of their non-Christmas albums, Beethoven’s Last Night, tells a fictional tale, in rock opera style, of Ludwig van Beethoven’s last night. Mixing classical crossover rock songs with melodies based on the famous composer’s actual work plus other composers, Beethovan saves his own soul when the devil comes calling for it on the last night of his life.
Great seats for TSO usually go fast so order your tickets early.
