Art Exhibition by John Gilbert
Alliance Francaise De Delhi is playing host to the art of John Gilbert. This art exhibition promises to be a wonderful example of how Indian and its culture can influence artists all over the world. His inspiration is primarily all things India. For example, Yoga and the Guru concept are an inherent part of his art.
The exhibition is a must visit for people interested in various forms of art inspired by everything India and other great artists, such as Duchamp, Warhol, Indiana, Beuys, Borofsky and Basquiat. Influences aside, an artist’s creation is unique when the artists views life in a totally different manner and this is where John excels. His perceptions are fascinatingly Indo western, but that’s no surprise considering he draws significant influence from various aspects of life, such as Yoga, billboards or simply an image on a truck. From simplistic art to using 22k gold and semi precious stone, John Gilbert’s exhibition is bound draw significant attention from Delhi’s art loving community.
Before you head of to view the exhibition, here’s a little about John’s journey.

As a pop-inspired creator, Gilbert loves to bring art to the people. He has this to say about his work, “I love to see art leave the gallery and the museum; to blur the lines. One of my dreams is to see my art on the walls of the city, in civic sculpture — in dialog with Indian culture”.
