Photo Friday: Vintage Edinburgh Signs
Edinburgh’s a place where the real attractions can be found in the details. By that, I mean the closer you look, the more you find. From years of battles and changing of ownership, to simply the city’s old age, you’ll find layer upon layer of history and intrigue.
My advice for people is usually just to look up – our city’s architecture is just wonderful, from the turrets and often original windows, to carvings and unique facades. But you don’t have to look up very high to admire this sign, which appears to highlight its age gracefully, a reminder of times gone by. The colours, the font styling – it’ s just wonderful, and reminds me of that look people have when they first see Edinburgh’s Georgian architecture for the first time.
Thanks for sharing this photo, Dorkymum!
