Now is the Time to Visit the Florida Panhandle
Some say it’s the miles and miles of beaches.
Others say it’s staying at the new Margaritaville Hotel (map) in Pensacola Beach.
For a few, it’s the fishing or dolphin watching in Destin.
A handful like to discover what they can “be” in Beaches of South Walton.
For many, it’s a SUMMER OF SUMMER with the REAL.FUN.RANDOM ACTS and REAL. FUN. REWARDS. in Panama City Beach
Whatever the reason may be (and there are a lot of them), it’s quite obvious that now is the perfect time to visit the Florida Panhandle. After all, you can’t let summer pass you by without digging your toes deep into the sun-warmed sugar white sand, screaming or laughing with joy as you run into the waves, and enjoying some Gulf Coast seafood.
And don’t forget about off-the-beach experiences as well, It’s not an exaggeration to say that this region offers something for every interest.
For instance, did you know that while vacationing on the Florida Panhandle, you can:
- tour the National Naval Aviation Museum (map) in Pensacola. Discover Pensacola’s rich history while aboard Pensacola Trolley Tours. Try your hand (and wrist) at Disc golf at one of the three courses in the area.
- visit the Gulfarium (map) or Gator Beach (map) in Destin. Learn more about the area’s history at Destin History & Fishing Museum (map).
- go YOLOing on Western Lake in Santa Rosa Beach (Beaches of South Walton), horseback riding through Point Washington State Park with Seaside Stables or zip liningat The Village at Baytowne Wharf (map) in Sandestin.
- ride the Ferris wheel at Miracle Strip at Pier Park (map), practice your putt-putt-ing skills at Goofy Golf (map) or paddle part of the 22-mile Ecofina Creek Canoe Trail (PDF file).
So, if you find yourself without anything to do this weekend, why not head out to the Florida Panhandle. Not only can you get your summer beach experience (sand, sun, water and suntan lotion) in, but so much more as well.
And you’ll be glad that you did.
