walking tour, scottsdaleHere’s your chance to get an inside look at “The West’s Most Western Town” and let your taste buds dance from place to place on a tour of Old Town Scottsdale.

Arizona Food Tours hosts, A Taste of Old Town Scottsdale, a walking tour filled with stories of the old west, demonstrations and an opportunity to sample great food and sip fine wine from some of Scottsdale’s best restaurants. This three hour adventure starts off with a lesson on the cowboy history of Scottsdale, how it has changed over the years, and all of the great things that the neighborhood has to offer today.  Even the locals will no doubt learn something!

After its first season as the #1 attraction in Scottsdale on TripAdvisor.com, A Taste of Old Town Scottsdale, is fit for any foodie or history buff.  Here are some of the places that you might encounter:

  • The Rusty Spur, the oldest saloon in Old Town Scottsdale, is where you will sample some old fashion grub and listen to live cowboy music.
  • Outrageous Olive Oils and Vinegars is one of the most distinctive shops in Phoenix, where you will sample fresh olive oils and unique flavored vinegars.
  • Su Vino Winery, the first and only winery in Old Town Scottsdale, is where you will have an opportunity to learn about winemaking and taste a great variety of wines.
  • Frank and Lupe’s is a long-time favorite and one of the best New Mexican restaurants in Phoenix where you will sample a taste of the old Southwest with a stuffed Sopaipilla.
  • Cowboy Ciao will offer up a sample of one of their famous signature dishes, “Pig n Pudding.”  It is a creation of sweet corn polenta, chipolte pulled pork, cojita cheese and dried cranberries.
  • The Sugar Bowl, a 50 year old landmark, is an old-fashioned sundae shop where you’ll love the crème pastry stuffed with vanilla ice cream and topped with hot fudge.

Taking a summer break, but back on tour September 1, they’ve added new places to include:

  • The Mission serves modern Latin cuisine influenced by the culinary influences of Spain, Mexico, Central and South America.
  • The Cider Mill, a market full of organic and gourmet choices in olive oil, sauces and teas and a sandwich shop that serves salads and homemade soups.
  • Arcadia Farms, the quintessential place for ladies who lunch serves fresh salads, and light entrees from local and organic sources.
  • 5th and Wine is one of the newest wine bars in town with a fantastic wine list.
  • Metro Brasserie, a neighborhood bistro serving French rustic cooking, has won accolades for its authentic cassoulet and beef bourguignon.
