Sky High Thrills at Canada’s National Airshow: Abbotsford, BC

The Abbotsford International Airshow is one of the west coast’s most popular events, especially for anyone who loves planes.  This is Canada’s National Airshow and it is held at the Abbotsford International Airport on August 13,14 and 15.

Every morning at 10:30 am there is a pre-show flying with model aircraft, antique aircraft, etc.  Then by noon, the main flying program begins lasting until 5:30 pm.  You’ll thrill to the Snowbird’s,  Canada’s National aerobatic team, the USAF Thunderbirds, the CAF Skyhawks, and a tactical demonstration of Canada’s front line jet fighter, the CF-18 Hornet. See an impressive ground demonstration by the 39th Canadian Brigade Group and flight maneuvers by the US Navy’s top-line jet fighter aircraft, the F/A-18F Super Hornet.

There will be many other planes performing too.  You can get the complete show list of performers here. All acts will be performing all 3 days of the airshow.

Schedule:

  • 8:00 am  Gates open (Ticket Kiosks open)
  • 8:30 am  Static Displays Open
  • 10:30 am  Pre-show Flying (model Aircraft, Antique aircraft, etc)
  • 12:00 noon  Opening Ceremonies/Main Flying Program Begins
  • 5:30 pm  Flying show ends/Static Displays close
  • 6:00 pm  Gates close

Abbotsford International Airport (YXX): 40 K. East of Port Mann Bridge off the Trans Canada Highway (map).  There are 3 public entrance gates.

Tickets: May be purchased on show days at the King Road Entrance or online. Parking is included in the admission price. Prepaid tickets enter through Queen Street entrance. Each ticket is good for a single-day admission. Click here for ticket information.
