Wakey Wakey, It’s Brunch Time at Albannach
One of the great things about London is the number of great places to get breakfast. Now Albannach, the Scottish contemporary restaurant on Trafalgar Square, has introduced a new brunch menu for Sundays.
You have a choice of Eggs Benedict or smoked salmon for £8.50, or a full English ‘the way it’s supposed to be’ for two pounds more.(Mind you, it’s sad they don’t call it a ‘full Scottish’, but then I suppose that would have to include a deep fried Mars bar as well as porridge. Come to think of it… a Scottish breakfast with no porridge! what were they thinking of?)
Now you could pay half that for breakfast in a greasy spo0n caff – but given Albannach’s reputation, I think you’ll get better value out of breakfast there. Besides, you’re nicely situated to move on to the National Gallery afterwards, or take a stroll in St James’s Park.
Brunch starts at 11 in the morning, which is late enough for most of us – but if you really can’t drag yourself out of bed, they carry on serving till six o’clock in the evening! There’s also a lunch menu which includes haggis as well as a more conventional Sunday roast.
