After Hours Event at Fort Worth Science Museum
While the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History is always a fun place to bring the kiddies, on July 31, 2010, the museum is hosting an after hours event geared toward adults. Da Vinci After Dark is a night of activities designed to inspire your inner Renaissance man or woman. From 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m., visitors can enjoy physics demos, live entertainment and creative projects, such as creating a Da Vinci style sketchbook, and making things, such as catapults and masks.
Two bands, Eyes and Ears (7:00 p.m.) and Seryn (9:00 p.m.) will provide live music throughout the evening, while a juggler and other colorful entertainers will wander throughout the crowd. For wine tasting, head to the museum’s Heritage Courtyard. In keeping with the Da Vinci theme, there will be plenty of Italian wines. The museum will also have a cash bar and snacks.
The Noble Planetarium is giving presentations every half hour from 6:30 until 9:00 p.m. that evening. Meanwhile, in the Omni dome IMAX Theater, Van Gogh: Brush with Genius plays at 7:30 p.m., while Adrenaline Rush has two showings, one at 6:25 p.m. and another at 8:35 p.m.
After hours visitors will have full access to all the currently running exhibitions, such as:
Leonardo da Vinci Man, Inventor, Genius This fascinating exhibit focuses on Da Vinci’s inventions, many of which set precedents for machines that are still in use today. The exhibit features replicas of these machines which were built from the detailed descriptions in his notebooks. For more information, see my article on the Da Vinci exhibit.
Let’s Take the Streetcar – Journeying Through Fort Worth’s Past This exhibit takes you on a historical ride through the history of rail travel in Fort Worth from the 1870′s up to the 1930′s.
