Chicago’s Spa Chakra Offers Free Gym Membership

What better way to take care of yourself than combining a spa treatment with a workout.

This summer, Spa Chakra at the historic Palmer House Hilton (17 East Monroe Street; map) in Chicago’s Loop District is offering a complimentary membership to the hotel’s fitness center with the purchase of any spa treatment.

Through October 31, 2010, purchase any full-price 60-minute service and you will be offered a complimentary membership to the fitness center for the 30 days following your treatment.

The fitness center is 10,000 square feet and has conditioning and strength training equipment, an indoor swimming pool, and group fitness classes, including yoga, Pilates, and cardio. The fitness center also includes locker rooms with grooming amenities and steam showers. Tip: With your complimentary membership you can also relax in the members lounge with complimentary Wi-Fi access and 24-hour Hilton concierge services.

Spa Chakra’s at the Palmer House Hilton is an 8,000-square-foot space with 12 treatment rooms and a salon for haircuts and make-up applications. The spa offers more than 60 health and beauty treatments, including facials, body massages, and hand and foot therapies. My favorite service is the Exceptional Orchidee Imperiale Treatment, because of Spa Chakra’s signature facial massage that lasts roughly 20 minutes and to say it is relaxing is an understatement. I also like that the spa has a no-gratuity policy and offers complimentary valet parking with every treatment.

Each of Spa Chakra’s facials use of Guerlain products and include the:

• Exceptional Orchidee Imperiale Treatment, which lasts two hours and includes two masks and arejuvenating and detoxifying facial massage, as well as eyebrow and eyelash tinting. Cost is $360.
• Spa Facial, which lasts one hour and thirty minutes and includes cleansing, massage, and more. Cost is $270.
• Power Facial, which last one hour and includes cleansing, massage, and more. Cost is $180.

Spa Chakra is open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday; 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday; and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
