Salsa Festival In San Francisco

This Saturday, July 24th marks the very first Salsa Festival on the Fillmore Center Plaza (map) from 7:00pm-9:00pm, and promises to bring this hottest of dances to the cool summer nights.  The evening begins with a free summer outdoor social dance that is open to the public and all ages are welcome. In addition, an engaging performance by Los Boleros Havana Dance Party fronted by Felix Samuel of Cuba and the Bay Area’s own Alexa Weber Morales will be featured.

Can’t quite salsa? Now worries… the free summer outdoor social dance  includes a salsa lesson by the Best of the Bay award winners, Juan Gil and Rebecca Miller. Here’s a list of the other activities planned for July 24th.

Yoshi’s Lounge 9:30pm-1:30am
The restaurant/bar area of the club will start out with a salsa lesson by Rebecca Miller and Juan Gil of Salsa With Juan, followed by a live performance by Louie Romero and his group, “Mazacote”.

Rasselas Jazz Club back room 9:00pm-1:30am
Start off the night with a salsa lesson by Rebecca Miller and Juan Gil of Salsa With Juan, followed by a live performance by West Coast Premium Salsa Band, “Avance”.

Rasselas Jazz Club front room 9:00pm-1:00am
A live performance by Tito y su son de Cuba.

Admission to both Yoshi’s Lounge and Rasselas Jazz Club: $25 door, $18 advance online.
