Big Sexy Weekend of Improv

If you’re looking for laughs this weekend, check out the 2nd Annual Big Sexy Weekend of Improv on the nights of July 23rd and 24th. These 4 performances feature 10 different comedy groups from across the nation. The weekend of laughs is hosted by the Alternative Comedy Theater (ACT) at Addison’s Conference and Theatre Centre’s Stone Cottage, with Cafe Bohemia and the Dyer Street Bar as sponsors.

Improvisational groups attending range from duos to a dozen performers. Some of them, such as The Hindenburgs, take audience suggestions, then create an entire show by riffing on that initial idea.

Others groups dish out the laughs with a heap of music on the side. The BTK Band, from New York City, promises to “rock your face off,” with their wacky brand of improvised songs, while Villain: The Musical, gives an improv performance in the style of a Broadway musical.

Fun Grip, and the Daniel Brothers are both improvisational duos, while a group named Red Dirt Improv, claims to be the “the Reddest, Dirtiest, Improvinest, Rootinest, Tootinest, Joke-Shootin’-est Improv group around!” Check out ACT’s website to read more about all 10 groups performing during the Big Sexy Weekend of Improv.

In addition to these public performances, ACT’s Improv Lab (5531 Dyer St #101 Dallas TX 75228 map) is holding workshops led by professional actors on Saturday, July 24th.
