Introducing Momondo.com, the Flight Search Engine

Recently I stumbled upon a flight search engine site, Momondo.com, that searches nearly 800 travel websites in seconds to find the cheapest flight.  I have mentioned other sites like this before, but I have found Momondo to search many more websites than the others, and will show you all of the prices, not just the cheapest ones.  I was very surprised that this was the first time I had seen the Denmark based site Momondo, considering that it has received significant media coverage and is recommended by CNN, ABC News, Time Magazine, CBC News and Arthur Frommer.

Having recently bought plane tickets, I did a quick search of the exact dates for which I already have a flight scheduled. The tickets that I bought were from American Airlines for $470.  Momondo’s search revealed 440 flights with the cheapest tickets between $381 – 409.  There were several tickets for American Airlines, with a variety of departure and arrival times, for $409 – 435.  Once a user searches, he or she can click the link to the airline or agency that has the best offer.

Besides searching more websites than any other flight search engine, some of the other pros for using Momondo are that they search for low cost flights in Europe, and they can also search over 4,000 highspeed train routes in Europe.

Another thing that I appreciate is the company’s transparency.  Their goal is to give users the total price without any catches, and state on the website that they make their money through commissions from sponsored links and advertisements.
