Kaffeehaus: Austrian café in the heart of Chiado

In the heart of the hold part of the city, Kaffehaus has gained a clear clientele all over the last years. It’s easy to understand why – excellent food, cool atmosphere and decoration, great service and superb location.

Just off the main street of Chiado, next to one of the most famous theatres in town, São Carlos (map), Kaffehaus, in its indistinctive Viennese style, has become one of the favourite cafés for many of the locals.

During the weekends families come with their kids for a brunch. While they play and draw with clay on the tables, fresh salads and sandwiches are served along with cappuccinos, fresh juices, toasts and eggs.

The ambience is relaxed and covers most every kind of modern people, from a designer working in its laptop to a group of friends having their weekly talks.

This is just as good for breakfast, lunch, dinner or for a drink at night.

Her you can try great Austrian pastry, including an obvious great Apfelstrüdel. There’s always something different written on a chalkboard…
