Going to Vancouver? Get a Travellers Deck and Save!

It has been one of my goals for quite some time now to visit Vancouver in British Colombia, Canada, so when the Tourism Bureau of British Colombia was represented at this past weekend at the Travel Bloggers Exchange conference in New York City I was excited to learn more.  They had a table set up with great information, but the real surprise was when I opened our swag bag and found a Travellers Deck with deals and discounts all over the city!

The Travellers Deck.

The Travellers Deck consists of the “100 Best Local Places to Eat and Shop in Vancouver” in a handy carrying case.  The cards are grouped into five different neighborhoods (South Main & Cambie Village, Commercial Drive, South Granville and Granville Island, Downtown and Kitsilano), each with a little fold out map describing the neighborhood and how to get there.  Each card has the name of the place, address, hours, phone number, and price range, plus a description and a discount!  Discounts range from free desserts, drinks, and appetizers to 10-50% off products.

Created by Vancouverites who are “in the know,” this deck is a great way to find some great deals and to check out some great restaurants.

The best part about this deck is that it only costs $11.95 CAN, but the discounts add up to over $700.  After looking at the cards and checking out some of the places listed, I will definitely use quite a few of them when I finally make it to Vancouver.  You can pick up a deck at participating retailers (Chapters, The Bay, Marketplace IGA, London Drugs), or order yours online and get it before you go.  It also makes a great gift if a family member or friend will be traveling there soon.

The deck is available in English, Japanese, Chinese, and Spanish.  The current 2010 deck doesn’t expire until December 2011, so you have plenty of time to book your flight!
