- If you can’t make it to the Gulf coast beaches to volunteer with clean-up, there are many other ways that you can help. From concerts to purchasing
signature dishes, you can give charities that are helping the area. - And while on the topic of the Gulf Oil Spill, Asheville, N.C., is helping out as well. With the support of private tourism partners, every time a visitor clicks on Asheville Tourism Cares, a 10 cent pledge is earned, up to $10,000. You have until July 2 to give back in this manner. Money raised is slated to go to the National Audubon Society.
- The beach destinations along Florida’s west coast want you to know they are open for business and ready for summer travelers. Each destination is monitoring the oil spill situation and are providing updates through videos, photos and content. Also, many of the destinations offerings summer deals worth considering.
- Calling all active families who love to compete, just a quick reminder that the deadline for Virginia Beach Adventure Race is quickly approaching. Don’t miss out on entering this fun competition. Not only is it a chance to further explore Virginia Beach, but also an opportunity to make some memories and take home some cash.
- Perhaps you have taken photos of memorable experiences at The Biltmore Hotel (map) in Coral Gables, Fla., or photos of the property itself. Whatever may be the case, The Biltmore wants you to enter them in their photo contest, July 1-31. Simply email your photos to pr@biltmorehotel.com, and then friend the property on Facebook to vote for your favorites. Contest winners will be announced on August 2. Prizes include everything from a two-night stay, daily cabana use and dinner at Palme d’Or for two (1st place) to culinary classes for two at the Biltmore Culinary Academy.
