Review: Fuji’s Unique Dining
Remember when you discovered the unique dining of a cruise? The waiter hands you a menu and it’s yours for the taking. Dishes are freshly prepared, coming straight from the kitchen to your table. At the end of the cruise, you find that you aren’t charged per item but more like prixe-fix dinners, a dining option you can find in many of your other favorite restaurants. The Japanese/Korean restaurant Fuji in Pasadena is similar to these cruise dinners. You will have the ability to chose as many and as much items as you want, all for a nice round price at the end.
How to Order
When you enter the lobby, there is a customized yellow “All You Can Eat” menu that you can order from. As you do in a sushi bar, simply mark off the desired quantity in the designated column. Take awhile looking at the menu and refrain from ordering everything. If you leave a lot of uneaten food on the plate, they may charge you extra on the bill. However, the food is excellent and best of all it’s fresh, made to order.
Sushi
The menu is mainly sushi, with eye-popping “Special Rolls” like Black Dragon Roll and Fuji Love Hand Roll. They also have Special Rolls in honor of the great city of Los Angeles like the Pasadena Roll and the Rose Bowl roll (named after an iconic arena where popular football games and community events are held).
From the Kitchen
What made this place especially unique, is that they offered “From Kitchen” items. Just to mention some favorites, there are Korean Kalbi short ribs and sizzling appetizers like fried oysters, broiled mussels, dumplings, and more.
The Staff
Even though there is an “All You Can Eat” dining option, there is no compromise in service. In fact, they are attentive and friendly. After what you have ordered has been served, they will always ask you at least a few times if you would like to order any more food. In addition to all of the food described above, the daily “Chef’s Special” will be served at no additional charge.
