Fete De La Musique at Alliance Française

The Alliance Française De Delhi is hosting a music festival. The musical performances are by artists from around India. The artists participating in this music festival are Jaipur Beat (from Rajasthan), Bangla Natak Folk Orchestra (from West Bengal), Sridhar/Thayil (from Mumbai), and Antoine Redon (from Delhi). The mix of artists is sure to make for a wonderful, multilingual evening.

Apart from Antoine singing French songs, there will also be cheese, wine, and other French delicacies. Partying the Indo-Franco way is not common in New Delhi. So, go ahead and give it a shot. At the very least, you will enjoy some fine wine!

Here’s a little about the artists.

Jaipur Beats

This group is from Jaipur, Rajasthan. They perform traditional Rajasthani folk music. This type folk music has been used by Bollywood music directors for a number of compositions.

Banglanatak.com’s Folk Orchestra

This orchestra was formed in December 2009 and is funded by the European Union. The aim of the project is to develop creative enterprise at grassroots, based on intangible cultural heritage of rural and tribal communities. Cross cultural exchange is being facilitated to revitalise cultural heritage and build harmony across communities and nations.

Sridhar / Thayil

This duo was formed in late 2007 in the India’s silicon valley – Bangalore. Their music is concoction of jazz vocals with blues guitar and electronic back beats. Sridhar / Thayil use sounds from opera to Hindustani music as part of their composition. Their performance is very similar to musical because they also play a range of characters that suited for the compositions.
