American Eagle Debuts Its New First Class Cabin
Starting July 2, flying American Eagle out of Chicago’s O’Hare airport gets a whole lot better when American Eagle debuts its new first class cabin on its CRJ-700 aircraft. American Eagle is owned by American Airlines and is the largest regional airline system in the world.
The new first class cabin will include nine newly-designed first class seats in a 2-1 configuration. I had a chance to demo one of the new seats recently and one feature I like is how the seat “slides” when it reclines. This is done so that the back of the seat is not up against the person sitting behind you, which means you don’t have to worry about someone bumping into your seat as they get up. It also means you aren’t cramped in when someone in front of you reclines their seat.
Other features of American Eagle’s new first class seat include four-way adjustable headrests and ergonomically-contoured back and seat cushions.
New In-flight Dining
Besides new seats, American Eagle’s new first class cabin will have a complimentary dining and cocktail service on flights longer than two hours (and which occur during a meal time: breakfast, lunch, or dinner). Mixed nuts and warm towels are always served.
New menu items include:
Breakfast: Hot oatmeal with fruit.
Lunch: Roast beef in a spinach wrap or barbeque chicken salad with pita chips.
Dinner: Beef fajita salad or a turkey, ham, and cheese sandwich on tomato focaccia bread.
