Summer Festivals

I can still remember when I was young we would have to drive for hours to see some of our bands playing in festivals.

Last decade Lisbon has been living an increase of summer festivals in and around the city. The driving is no longer necessary. After the successful Rock in Rio – Lisbon 2010, here are some of the most awaited upcoming events:

Sumol Summer Fest

The beach and music walk hand in hand in this celebration to Jamaican music. Groundation, Marcelo D2, Gentleman, Matisyahu and Dub Inc are some of the main groups.

How much: 30€ (day). Festival: 40€.

Cool Jazz Fest

Cool Jazz Fest takes place is breathtaking sceneries from Cascais to Mafra. Historical places will receive names like Chris Isaak, Norah Jones, Omara Portuondo, Buena Vista Social Club, Diana Krall, Elvis Costello and Maria Bethânia.

Delta Tejo

Music from Jamaica, Caribe, Brasil, Nigeria and other places around the world. Names like Shaggy, Carlinhos Brown, Nneka, Mary B and Martinho da Vila bring a different sound to Lisbon.

How much: 25€ (day). Festival: 40€

Optimus Alive

This Festival is different from all the others because they gather not only music but also science and art.

Some of the bands that it will show are: Faith No More, Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, Deftones, LCD Soundsystem and The XX.

Where: Passeio Marítimo de Algés

When: 08-07-2010 to 10-07-2010

How much: 50€ (day). Festival: 90€.
